Introduction

Teacher Dashboard is a web application that allows teachers to manage Chromebooks in their class. It gives teachers visibility of the students browsing activity and control what content they can access. It is a central hub where teachers can see the class online activity. Teachers can also open class related content directly on the students’ chromebooks. Teacher Dashboard is an efficient tool that helps keep students on-task.

Teachers can login to the Blocksi Teacher Dashboard using Clever

Dashboard

The dashboard is the starting point for the Teacher Dashboard. It contains a list of the teacher’s classes. On the Dashboard, classes can be added, deleted, and configured. Teachers can add their students manually or let students join with code.

Each card represents a class and provides the following information:

Class name
Class Duration
Class join code
Show history button
Delete Class button

Create a Class

Click the CREATE CLASS button. This opens a new window where you can enter:

Class Name
CLASS DURATION in minutes
CLASS COLOR: this is the color of the class icon on the Teacher Dashboard
POLICY: This is the filtering policy used during each class session. When a class is created, a Default policy is assigned to the class. If there are any special requirements about filtering and what contenct should be allowed during the class, then this can be controlled with the policy.

Class Setup

Click on the class card to open the following control icons and menus

Click Students button. This opens a window where students can be selected and added to your class. Search for the student's name and click the + sign to add. Each student will be represented with a blue/white thumbnail. Once the class is started, this icon shows the screenshot of all open tabns on the student(s) Chromebook.
OR
Students can join your class using the Class Join code provided. They simply go to student.blocksi.net. It will notify them that and type the join code you provide (See screenshot below for how to locate your specific join code). They will now be enrolled in your class and can close the join code tab.

Student icon shows the following information and has the following controls:

CONNECTION STATUS indicates if the student has an active connection to the Teacher Dashboard. Green means connection is established, gray means connection is not established. A gray icon can indicate problems with the internet connection.
INCLUDE/EXCLUDE switch lets you control whether a student is part of the class or not (absent or present).
CHROMEBOOK SCREEN displays thumbnails of pages that are currently being browsed. Thumbnail shows a default Blocksi logo if class is not started or student connection status is gray (not connected to Blocksi Cloud service).
OPEN TABS shows all currently opened tabs on the student(s) Chromebook. Teacher can also close these tabs by clicking on the icon.
SAVE SCREENSHOT can be used to capture a screenshot of the student(s) Chromebook and save it to a file.
ENFORCE TAB opens new tab on the student(s) Chromebook. This can be used if the teacher wants to show particular content directly to the student.
SEND MESSAGE is used to send a message to the student.
HEADS UP pauses student internet activity and shows a Heads Up message on the Chromebook.
ASSESSMENT lets you take assessment with a specific student (see chapter 5- Assessment).
VIDEO STREAM launches a video panel displaying browsing in real-time.

Clicking on the student icon will open a new modal window where it is possible to:

Assign a specific policy to the student
Remove/Dismiss the student from the class
