In our final module, we will be reading chapters twenty-three through twenty-seven. Here we will be working on the "summarizing" skill. Most of you have probably used this skill in the past. You are probably more familiar with this skill than you are with some of the others we have used in this unit.
Look back at the description of what makes a good summary in the "Basic comprehension skills" tab on the side bar to the left. Now, using your journal, write a summary of the book. The summary should be at least two paragraphs long, and since a summary is a short piece, it should not be more than five paragraphs long. DO NOT use the summary on the back of the book!! It may help you to use the graphic organizer that is attached at the bottom of this page. It will help you to jot down your ideas before you write.
After you write your summaries individually we will do a narrative pyramid/story pyramid together as a group. I will explain this in greater detail when the time comes.
