In module two we are going to read chapters five through nine. There will be two parts to your work in this module.
Part one:
You will be using the "questioning" skill. Just like you did with the "predict" skill, you will do this TWICE. In your journal I want you to come up with four or more questions that you had as you read. I want you to do this after chapter six (you can ask questions about anything you have read so far, it does not have to just be from what you read in chapter six) AND after chapter nine (again, you can ask questions about anything that you have read from chapters sever, eight, or nine. Sometimes questions even come up from past chapters, once you read new information.)
Part two:
Here is where you have a choice of a second activity. Choose one of the following:
A: Highlighting - While of course I can't let you write in the books, highlighting is a wonderful way to help you with comprehension. Choose a chapter that you have read for this module, and photocopy it. Then highlight any part that you feel is important and helps with your comprehension of the overall story. You may choose to do this alone or with a partner.
B. You can work on predictions more by clicking on the link below and printing up the sheet that is attached. You may choose to do this with a partner or alone.
C. In a group of three or four , each member will write five parts of the book that stood out for them. This might be a direct quote, or you can write in your own words what happened in a part you enjoyed or thought was important. When you are finished writing these, you will share them with one another and have a discussion. Others must tell you their reactions to what you wrote. Did they feel the same about that part/quote?
