Recovery Policy

Recovery

1. The intent of the Fulton County Recovery Policy is to assist students by providing adequate opportunities to master course objectives in order to eliminate preventable failures. Opportunities designed to allow students to recover from a low or failing cumulative grade will be allowed when all work required to date has been completed and the student has demonstrated a legitimate effort to meet all course requirements including attendance.

2. Recovery is for a cumulative grade, not for one test, project, etc. Recovery is for students whose performance indicates a significant decline in achievement or a failing cumulative grade.

3. Recovery work must be directly related to the course objectives.

Students are responsible for contacting the teacher concerning recovery opportunities.

4. Teachers are expected to establish a reasonable time period for recovery work to be completed during the semester.

5. The recovery assignment is at the teacher's discretion, teachers will determine when and how students with extenuating circumstances may improve their grades. It can be retaking a test, taking a new test, a project, etc. The recovery work must be directly related to the course objective as recovery is meant to assist students learn the material they have not mastered during the semester to assure that they understand the concepts.

6. All recovery work must be completed prior to the last ten school days of the

semester.

7. Recovery work will not be granted to change a grade after a semester is over.

8. Opportunities for recovery must be outlined in the teacher’s course syllabus.
