Introduction: Students will perform a daily currents and weekly critical analysis and record their results in a spiral notebook or done digitally on a Google document. The daily current events is based on watching CNN 10 and reading two CNN Headlines whereas the weekly analysis is based on an article selected by the teacher. Work will be graded bi-weekly, 60pts each week.
1. Daily Current Events (10pts/day): Students will do two activities each day on current events, one on CNN 10 and the other on CNN Headlines and record their analysis. Students should use only one page (front/back) for each day, put the current date on top and then follow the format for CNN10 and CNN Headlines below. This will be a collection of daily work done over the term.
Part 1: CNN 10
> Students will watch CNN 10 and record five facts in complete sentences.
Part 2: CNN Headlines
>Students go to CNN Headlines and analyze two daily headlines daily using only these categories: US, World, Politics, Business, Opinion, and Health.
> Students analyze the two headlines using 5W&H (Handout Critical Thinking #1), For example: Click Here
