INFORMATION LETTER FOR PARENT/GUARDIAN OF STUDENT
GOING ON BUS TRIP TO DES MOINES: Date TBD (February)
"Get on the Bus"
DCSD Capitol Trip
Thank you for giving permission for your child to travel to Des Moines with the Legislative Advocacy Committee. We have a copy of your signed permission form on file with emergency contacts. Your child will be under the direct supervision of a Davenport Community School District employee or district chaperone on the bus and at the Capitol. It is important the students understand they will represent our district to legislators and other people at the Capitol. We know they will be on their best behavior during the trip. Eight to ten students will be assigned to one of the adult chaperones and the students need to follow any directions given by their leaders.
We hope this will be a wonderful, educational experience for all the students. We are very proud they are using this time to join us in our advocacy efforts for the school district. We know the legislators are looking forward to having students talk with them at the Capitol and to hear their stories. We will be giving the students instructions on the bus regarding protocol for the day. Everyone who enters the Capitol will need to go through a security check first. It is important that students stay with their group and not go off on their own while in Des Moines. So you know the details for the trip we are providing the following information.
