One of my first projects with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia was to design an online learning opportunity for patients and families visiting the CHOP oncology department. Children need to be given a medicine to increase their white blood cell counts after chemotherapy, but the medication does not come in pediatric doses. The goal was to give families an opportunity to practice drawing up the medication and transferring their child's specific amount to a secondary syringe. We wanted them to be able to practice this skill in a safe way prior to meeting with a nurse expert to return demonstrate. This is the result.

Another project I produced for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia was to design an online learning opportunity for caregivers whose child has a tracheostomy. There is robust face-to-face training for families at CHOP prior to discharge but we wanted to provide opportunities for families to preview and practice skills prior to classes, review skills at a later date, and help additional caregivers who were not trained in the hospital to learn these skills to support the primary caregiver. This is the result. (Note: This module was so well received that is also being used to train homecare nursing staff on the CHOP Open platform.
