The Theim family lived not too far from here, at 157 Morris Avenue. John left his wife Elizabeth to join the 744th Bomber Squadron. Second Lieutenant Theim saw plenty of action in the European theatre. Tragically, on the 21st of July 1944, German planes shot down the bomber in which he was the navigator. His mission that day was to bomb an enemy oil refinery in Czechoslovakia. Theim is buried in Ardennes Cemetery in Belgium.
