David Nash was a Laker who hung out at Yak’s with many of his Class of 64 peers. Dave was a choir singer, a member of the chess club, and an All-state baseball player with a strong right arm.
He didn’t especially like football, but who could blame Dave when that year’s team boasted an 0-7-1 record! Dave’s dream was to be a professional baseball player although he predicted he would end up a batboy.
A friend from Bates College who played on the baseball team with him remembers Dave as a pitcher, a good one, but a much better person and friend. Dave's father was killed during World War II, and it seems his son inherited his patriotism. Staff Sergeant David Robertson Nash was killed due to an explosive device on May 13, 1970 at the age of 24.
