Robert Asmuth Jr, a proud senior of the Class of 66, lived just down this road at 92 Lake Drive. Bob was known as an avid runner, and he must have been because he was on both the tennis and cross-country teams. His classmates remembered him for his “famous” homeroom crams prior to big tests.
When asked by the yearbook editor where he frequents, Bob answered the absentee list. That may have been true, but it was hard to get him out of the chemistry labs where he felt most comfortable. Bob began his Vietnam tour a few days after Christmas 1969.
Seven months later, at the age of 21, First Lieutenant Asmuth was gunned down in South Vietnam.
