SFU University

Admission

  • I targeted the top 200 school in the times higher education list. SFU was not there. However, a friend of me was doing Msc there. He told me about A.Prof Greg Mori. That was great favour from him.
  • I applied in SFU. Nothing special. No emphasize on GRE.
  • I got offer after 2 weeks! I was on pending list of one of other USA universities (e.g. all offers are given, with first one reject, I will get an offer).
  • I played safely and accepted SFU one. I felt Canada well be better than USA. Also Greg mori work & profile encouraged me lot.

First 2 Weeks

  • Almost everything is organized,
  • The staff gave contradicting comments on my Visa status. Even the Insurance number employee! But finally managed the issue.
  • They need more orientations on the insurance and its details.
  • You should depend on yourself to understand the country...life will learn you much

TA Experience

  • So different than Cairo University. You have specific # of hours to cover weekly
  • Department, The Doctor and the supervisor asks you to be careful about your time..."You are here for research"
  • Dr Diana showed much care with fare grading for students. She designed assignments by herself. I liked that much.
  • TA role was soft for me in 1st term. I was in Into to programming.
