  • The IL12/23-IFNG loop is important Immune Mechanism to Control infections with Intracellular Organisms.

  • M. Tuberculosis (MTB); Atypical Mycobacteria or Non Tuberculous Mycobacteria (NTM) or Environmental Mycobacteria (EM); Salmonella (both S. Typhi & Non Typhi Salmonella) & Listeria Monocytogenes are some of the intracellular organisms.

1/3rd of world population is exposed to MTB ( Mantoux Test +ve)

A small % of these develop infection.
