07. Camera and light

7.1 General camera control

The following methods apply to camera operation regardless of whether you're in model, accessory, or camera mode.

Camera rotation

By right clicking and dragging on the main window, you can revolve the camera around the center of vision.

Camera movement

By dragging the crossed arrows on the top right of the main window, or dragging on the main window with the middle mouse button, you can

move the camera's position.

Zoom in/zoom out

By clicking on the magnifying glass icon on the top right of the screen, or scrolling the mouse wheel, you can zoom the camera in and out.

7.2 Camera mode and camera rotation

In camera mode, in addition to the default methods, you can control the camera using the Main Window Camera Controller.

You can also have the camera rotate around itself instead of the focal point.

Additionally, you can change between Global and Local modes just as you can when controlling bones.

7.3 Camera and Light Selection

When registering a keyframe for camera or light, you must bein camera mode and have a camera or light, respectively, selected.

Selecting a camera

To select a camera, go into camera mode and select the camera from the timeline, or select it from the camera tab.

Selecting a light source

To select a light source, go into camera mode and click on the light on the timeline.

Also, you can select light from the Light tab, but this will only select Light 1.

There are up to 3 light sources available, but by default only one is active.

To activate the second and third lights, select the light you want to activate and click "Active" from the Properties menu.

7.4 Camera properties

The values(properties) that can be registered to a camera in a keyframe are as follows.

Camera properties can be set from the Camera menu in camera mode.

7.5 Light properties

The values(properties) that can be registered to a light in a keyframe are as follows.

You can set light properties from the Light menu in camera mode.

Enable

Light color

Position

By checking this box, the light becomes active.

The light's color. R, G, and B stand for red, green, and blue light values, respectively.

7.6 Self shadow properties

The values(properties) that can be registered for self-shadow in a keyframe are as follows.

The self-shadow's properties can be set from the Self-shadow menu in camera mode.

Distance ratio

Deep ratio

This is a value which scales the distance of the shadow position used as a basis to calculate depth. As the distance increases, the shadow is applied to a wider area. However, the shadow becomes more rough as a tradeoff. The smaller the distance, the more accurate the shadow, but the shadow area becomes smaller.

Changes shadow depth(transparency).

7.7 Changing view

Point of view(the camera's position and direction) can be changed by dragging the mouse buttons, but the buttons displayed below are

also methods of changing it.

Alternatively, double clicking on an object displayed in the main window will set the camera's focal point to the point of the object you clicked on.

7.8 View tracking

This allows you to set the camera to follow a bone or model.

Follow model

Follow bone

Follow camera

Uses the selected model as a focal point to determine the camera view.

Uses a selected bone as a focal point to determine the camera view.

Causes the camera to follow the motions registered in camera mode even in model or accessory mode.
