2.1 Opening and saving a project

To open and save projects, click on the upper left icon and choose the appropriate command from the menu that appears.

Alternatively, to abandon the current project and create a new one, click "New."

MMM can only open projects of its own file type, .mpj.

2.2 Loading models and accessories

To load models and accessories, click the "File" tab, or go to the command bar, and select the appropriate menu.

They can also be loaded by dragging and dropping onto the floating windows.

MikuMikuMoving is capable of reading models as .PMD or .PMX files, and accessories are limited to the .X format.

You can select loaded models and accessories under the control panels in their respective modes(see Interface 1.5).

2.3 Loading poses and motions

To load a pose or motion, select the appropriate menu from the File tab or command bar..

They can also be loaded by dragging and dropping onto the floating windows.

However, note that loading model and camera/light motions requires you to be in their perspective modes.

Loading a camera/light motion onto a model has no effect, and vice versa.

Also note that motions and poses are loaded only onto the currently selected model.

Motions and poses are loaded using the currently selected frame as the starting point.

For example, if a motion is loaded and the marker is on frame 100 of the timeline, the motion will start at frame 100, not 0.

It is important to pay attention to the starting point of the motion.

2.4 Loading effects

To load an effect, select the appropriate menu from the File tab or command bar.

Compatible effect formats are MME's .fx or MMM's unique .fxm format.

You can select and control loaded effects under the control panel in effect mode.

NOTE: As MikuMikuMoving is still in beta version, many effects have yet to be made compatible with the program.

Until effects are stabilized, be careful when loading them as some may crash the program.

2.5 Loading audio

To load an audio file, select the appropriate menu from the File tab or command bar.

Loaded audio is displayed on the audio track.

MikuMikuMoving is capable of loading both .wav and .mp3 formats.

Like motions, an audio track will be set to start at the marker's current position on the timeline when loaded.

Please pay attention to the marker's position when loading.

You can also change the position of an audio track on the timeline by using the following methods:

1. Dragging and dropping with the mouse

2. Right clicking on the audio track and specifying a specific frame using the "Set start point" command.

There are 4 audio tracks by default. If there are not enough tracks when a new track is loaded, a new track is automatically created.

2.6 Deleting models, accessories, effects, and audio

To delete a loaded accessory, model, audio track, or effect, press the "Remove" button under the File tab or command bar(trash can icon).

Pressing Delete on your keyboard also performs this function.

Once deleted, a model, accessory, or effect cannot be restored to its previous state with Undo.

Take due caution when deleting.

2.7 Saving motions

To save a model, camera, or light motion, press the "Export Motion" button from the File tab.

Additionally, note that in order to save a model, you must have the model selected in model mode.

To save a camera or light motion, you must be in camera mode.

Motions can be saved as two different file types: .vmd and MMM's .mvd.

which bones to output in this dialogue using the check boxes.

In addition, in order to save a pose you both be in model mode and have the marker set at the frame you want to save.

Saveable file types are .vpd.

In addition, MikuMikuMoving can save morphs as poses, but these will not be read by MikuMikuDance(MMM's ancestor program).

When you select "Export Pose," a dialogue will open.

You must specify the file name and bones to be output.

When you press the "Export" button, a pose(vpd) file will be saved.

All bones selected when the save menu is opened will be output by default.

However, you can specify which bones to output using the checkboxes in the dialogue.

2.9 Generating a lip-synch motion from a VSQ file

You can automatically generate lip-synch motions from .vsq and .vsqx files.

Select "Load VSQ" from the File tab, and then select the .vsq/.vsqx file you want to use to generate the motion.
