Research Progress

The objective of this project is to research fundamental issues of a miniaturized sensor for real-time detection and quantification of debris particles in rotating machinery’s lubrication oil. To achieve the objective, our activities were divided into two major parts: (1) research an inertia-force particle separator that separates debris particles in lubrication oil according to their size, 2) research a multichannel detector array for metal debris using signal multiplexing. Finally we demonstrated the utility of the sensor for high throughput wear debris detection. The details of the activities are described below.
