Three graduate students, Leixin Ouyang, Ruiting Xu, Rubia Shaik were supported by this project. All students were trained in PIs labs and assisted PIs to conduct research work.   The students were trained to 1) how to identify research funding opportunities and write competitive proposals by 1 to 1 discussion with PIs, 2) how to network with peer researchers by participating in PIs’ weekly group meeting, and having lunch meetings with faculty and visiting scholars.

The preliminary testing results of the single cell surface charge mapping were included in PI Zhe’s existing MEMS courses “Fundamentals of MEMS”.  Students were asked to get into PI’s MEMS Lab, and inspect the device under the microscopes. The graduate student, Ouyang, showed application of cell surface charge measurement to the classes.

Two undergraduate students have been trained and participated research on biomolecular assay and cell assay in Zhang’s labs in Year 3.  The students at UA include Andrea Zuccaro and Albert Koomson.
