playlists
Below is a compilation of 'playlists' from various Radio Caroline airchecks from the late 1970s, spanning from 1976 to 1980 - although 'playlist' is probably the wrong word. The Caroline Newsletter mentions that DJs had a pretty free hand in what they played and would regularly dive into the record library as the shows progressed. Some DJs played predominantly rock music while others preferred softer album tracks. Consequently listeners would tend to come and go depending on who was on board. To address this, it seems a format system was introduced in 1978.
