Moving from ICT to DT
Geoff will be working on sharing resources he already has but also upgrading with additional ideas to shift the use of many of these resources from purely ICT to DT use.
Tips and Tricks
When creating resources for your BeeBots please be aware that your squares need to be slightly less than 150mm or 6 inches square.
When taking pictures, set your Smart Phone or iPad camera to take Square photos. If you don't have this facility, make sure you visualise your object as being in a square shot.
When purchasing clear plastic sheeting from retailers like Bunnings or Spotlight make sure you purchase the thicker 0.75mm or 0.8mm clear plastic as it will stand up to more wear and tear in the classroom. The plastic comes by the metre and is 137cm wide.
It is fine to make laminated sheets for your classroom but this does limit their use as students can't rearrange the cells of the board layout.
When creating your document with photos to be printed, insert your photos into the cells of a table rather than just as images. This gives you greater control over size and shape when printing. You simply create a document and insert a table with just 2 cells. Edit the properties of the cells and make them 5.75 inches or 146mm high and 5.75 inches or 146mm wide. Make the cell padding 0 and table border 3pts thick. This video shows you how.
