NuWay-K&H Cooperative is accepting scholarship applications now through April 5th. Twenty scholarships will be awarded at $500 each. This annual scholarship program is open to all patrons, customers, employees, and directors of NuWay-K&H Cooperative and their children.

To be eligible, an applicant must attend or plan to attend an accredited college, university, or technical school. We encourage but do not require, the applicant to be seeking a degree or certificate in agricultural studies.

Parent/ guardian or applicant can be a member of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, but not required. Applicant must be resident of Cerro Gordo County or involved in agricultural activities in Cerro Gordo County.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be graduating high school seniors planning on attending an accredited college or university in the United States of America. Additionally, students must have met all of the requirements described on this website (http://honorsgradu.com/). Employees of Honors Graduation and their families are not eligible to participate. Submissions must be received before the deadlines in order to qualify for the scholarship program. Mailed applications must be postmarked by that deadline. There are no citizenship requirements.

It was the wish of Albert and Clara Lake that the recipients of the scholarship "insofar as practical" be students whose elementary education was acquired at least in part at Jefferson Elementary School in Mason City. Applicants need to submit the application along with the following information: biography, letter from parents/guardian regarding college plans, transcript, letter of recommendation, and letter of verification if you attended Jefferson Elementary School. Jefferson Elementary documentation can be obtained by contact the Registrar at MCHS.

This scholarship is given in memory of Mark Hambleton. As a founding member of the Ag Coop Safety Directors of Iowa (ACSDIA), Mark Hambleton was dedicated to the future of Agricultural safety and those working in and around the Ag industry. Mark served as an officer in the ACSDIA for many years and as the Safety Director of Pro Cooperative he was one of the first in the nation to arrange for his cooperative to donate grain bin cofferdams to local fire departments for grain bin rescues. In honor of his dedication to the future of Ag Safety, the ACSDIA is dedicating this scholarship to the memory of Mark Hambleton.

The Ag Coop Safety Directors of Iowa Scholarship is open to high school Seniors looking to go on to a career in an Agriculture or Safety related field and must be planning to attend college/university during the upcoming school year. Applicants will be required to fill out a simple application and submit an essay on “What does Ag Safety mean to you?”. One letter of recommendation from a non-family member is also required.

Criteria: The Mason City Noon Rotary will be giving out 4($500) merit-based scholarships to high-potential seniors.

The Mason City Noon Kiwanis desires to award scholarships to one graduating senior from each high school located in Mason City, IA. We seek to support students who have demonstrated a commitment to community service, especially service to benefit children and youth, and who seek to further this commitment through a post-secondary education.

The scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $2000.00. The scholarships are designed to assist graduating seniors in pursuing a postsecondary education in any state at an accredited institution which provides a two- or four-year college program. The scholarships may be used for any bona fide school related expense such as tuition, fees, and books.

The principal criterion is service to school and community with special emphasis upon leadership roles in these areas. The Grand Commandery Knights Templar of Iowa is looking for those students who exhibit the greatest potential to be not only of service to their communities in the future but also leaders in these communities. An applicant’s academic record, communication skills, and need for financial assistance are also carefully considered as is an evaluation of the applicant by a school official. The organization, appearance, and completeness of the application are also factors considered by the selection committee.

The applicant must be an Iowa resident planning to attend an Iowa college/university. The applicant will be evaluated on their high school GPA, financial need, references and essay.

Scholarship winners are selected on the basis of their interest and activity in golf and the potential for future contributions to the game, then on their academic ability and financial need.

The scholarship will provide applicants the opportunity to share some of those challenges and experiences where their character was tested, and they prevailed with good decisions and caring actions. We hope to provide opportunities for first generation college students and/or underrepresented populations on a college campus. Through their stories and narratives, the focus will be on community service, volunteering, involvement in religious organizations and schools, and references of good character. One recipient will be chosen from an Iowa high school to honor Jim's work with youth in Iowa, and another recipient will be chosen from a Decatur, Illinois high school to honor his hometown. Our goal is for high school seniors to begin applying for this scholarship on January 5, 2022, which would have been his 77th birthday. Applications will be accepted through March 31, 2022. Recipients will be notified by May 2, 2022.  Scholarships will be awarded from $1,000-$2,500 per recipient.

To meet eligibility requirements for MVP, prospective students must: a) Be a resident of the state of Iowa, and a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident; b) Be admissible to Iowa State University (summer trial students are not eligible); c) American Indian or Alaskan Native, Black/African American, Asian American, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, Hispanic or Latino, or Multiracial on the application for undergraduate admission; or who have participated in a federally funded Educational Talent Search or Upward Bound program; d)Demonstrate financial need based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); e) Have faced personal and/or financial challenges or hardships.

The Robert Smiley Scholarship Award is offered by the Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union and the Smiley Family in honor of the longtime IGHSAU Associate Executive Secretary who passed away in 2003. In recognition of Bob Smiley’s work towards ensuring the Iowa Girl is a leader of her peers, the IGHSAU created a scholarship to honor his legacy. To be consider as the MCHS female athlete, the following criteria must be met: full-time high school student, minimum 2.5 GPA, varsity letter each year of high school and plan to attend an Iowa college/university.

The Iowa Grocers Education Foundation (IGEF) will award $2,000 scholarships to high school seniors and undergraduate students who are children of full-time employees or $1,500 scholarships to students who are full-time or part-time employees of firms that are members of the Iowa Grocery Industry Association (IGIA).

The Iowa State Elks Association is pleased to offer twenty (20) $1,500.00 Vocational Grants to individuals pursuing a vocational (2-year or less) training/educational program. These grants are open to current high school seniors or any non-traditional student (second career, etc.) pursuing such a program at an accredited school.

The Iowa Council of Administrators of Special Education has presented the Tyler Greene Award annually since 2007. Tyler was the first recipient of this award.  The Tyler Greene Award is given to a high school senior or first-year graduate who has been identified as an individual with a disability who has done something significant in their life for themselves or others. This is a $500 one-time scholarship.

This scholarship is available to high school seniors and undergraduates who are pursuing a career in the building and trades field. Award Amount: $1,000 total -  Recipients: The number of scholarships varies annually based on the number of qualified applicants. In previous years, two awards have been given.

This scholarship, made possible by the MolinaCares Charitable Foundation, is for Iowa high school seniors who are in their senior year during the 2022-2023 academic year and interested in pursuing a career in long-term care. This scholarship covers tuition fees to pursue a certified nursing assistant (CNA), licensed practical nurse (LPN), registered nurse (RN), associate of science in nursing (ASN) or bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) program for the 2023-2024 academic year. This scholarship is intended for those interested in a future career in long-term care. Nine scholarships will be offered to provide for up to $2,000 toward tuition for a CNA, LPN, RN, ASN or BSN program.

Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by an evaluation of the essays that are submitted.

Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.  You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.

Students should record their reading of the draft to an audio CD or flash drive. The recording can be no shorter than three minutes and no longer than five minutes (plus or minus five seconds). Entries begin at the Post level. Once the student creates their essay and completes burning the audio version to an audio CD/flash drive, they can submit their typed version, CD/flash drive and the Voice of Democracy entry form to their local participating VFW Post. Students can work with Ms. Rother if they need help with their recording.

The Youth Awards was founded in 1998 by the Hispanic Heritage Foundation. Now entering its 24th year, the Youth Awards honors Latinx high school seniors who excel in the classroom and community and for their excellence in various categories including: Business & Entrepreneurship, Community Service, Education, Engineering, Green Sustainability, Healthcare & Science, Media & Entertainment, Public Service & Social Justice, Sports & Fitness and Technology.

Gold, Silver and Bronze recipients are selected in each category and receive a one-time grant to fund their college education or to fund a community service effort that tackles a social issue.

Once selected, recipients will be celebrated in 10 virtual ceremonies and will become part of our broader HHF network of 200,000 professionals and fulfill our unique cycle of leadership where we meet America's priorities in the classroom and workforce.

The Youth Awards program is the main pipeline to Hispanic Heritage Foundation's (HHF) system of talent that prepares and positions Latinx youth through the award-winning Latinos On Fast Track (LOFT) program as they transition from high school, to college, to graduate school, and into their careers. Criteria: Applicants do not need to be related to a member of the Elks. Males and females compete separately, and are judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. Applicants not selected for the MVS scholarship will automatically be considered for scholarship funds provided by the Charles City Elks Lodge No. 418 and the Iowa Elks Association.

The E. Wayne Cooley Scholarship Award is a scholarship established in tribute to the man most responsible for making the "Iowa Girl" number one in the nation. The profile of the recipient should reflect discipline, perseverance, character, superior athletic skill, leadership, academic achievement and citizenship traits that have personified the life and expectation of the late Dr. E. Wayne Cooley. To be considered as the MCHS female athlete, the following criteria must be met: Minimum 3.75 GPA, Athlete involved in at least two sports each year of high school, Varsity letter in at least two sports, On track to earn Silver Cord at graduation, and plan to attend an Iowa college/university.

Legal residents of the United States who reside in the state of Iowa and who are either: an Iowa high school student, an undergraduate college student, or a parent or guardian, or another adult who holds a College Savings Iowa account to benefit, an Iowa high school student or an undergraduate college student.

Criteria: Applicants must be committed to the pursuit of automotive-related studies, such as technician training, body shop/collision repair, diesel, new vehicle sales, parts sales, accounting, or business administration.  An optional statement of support or recommendation from an IADA member dealership is recommended, but not required. Excluded from consideration are candidates whose parent is the designated dealer principal of a car or truck dealership. Preference will be given to applicants who plan to attend an Iowa college or university. Scholarships may be awarded, in part, on financial need.

Our 2022 scholarship competition is open to students who are U.S. residents or students at U.S. schools who fall within these three categories:

Applicants who are younger than age 17 must provide parental consent to enter. Employees of Mushkatel, Robbins & Becker, PLLC, Consultwebs, Inc., and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter the competition.

1. Must be a U.S. Citizen. 2. Must attend a traditional public high school located in the U.S. that is governed by a school district. 3. Must have achieved a 3.50 Cumulative Grade Point Average. 4. Must enroll at an Eligible Four-Year College or University the first semester following high school graduation. 5. Must maintain a four year or less graduation schedule in college. 6. Must work 240 hours from January 1, 2024 until commencement of the 2024 fall semester in college. Work can be performed at recipient discretion. Work must be regularly scheduled employment performed under supervision for compensation. Most recipients work during the summer months. However, all paid employment counts, including part-time employment during this time period. 7. Applicant’s Adjusted Gross Household Income reported for 2022 Federal Income Tax Purposes must not have exceeded $85,000. “Household Income” is defined as the total income received by all members of a household living under the same roof. 8. Applicants selected as Finalists in early 2024 must provide a copy of their FAFSA SAR. 9. Must apply for Federal and State grants if eligible. 10. Must not have a felony conviction.

Mason City High School Scholarship

Deadline: December 15, 2023

Criteria: Students must have a minimum 2.7 GPA at the end of their 11 th grade year, must be a full-time student attending Mason City High School or Mason City Virtual Academy (i.e., dual-enrolled students, foreign exchange students are not eligible), and must be on-track to earn a diploma from the Mason City Community School District. The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) Scholarship program addresses the financial needs of college students and provides extensive, hands-on mentoring and support services. Once chosen from a national, selective application process, Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholars receive a generous four-year grant to attend the undergraduate school of their choice and enroll in JRF’s celebrated “42 Strategies for Success Curriculum”.  This four-year program guides JRF Scholars to effectively navigate their college environments, explore career options, develop leadership skills, and embrace a commitment to service. The program also promotes the values and character traits embodied in the heroic life of the Foundation’s namesake, encouraging Scholars to positively impact the lives of others.

Criteria: This application is for a graduating senior student who will continue his/her education at a college or university and is planning to study Education, specifically Special Education. This scholarship is a one-time $2,000 award.

In accordance with National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association’s (NIAAA) purpose to promote, facilitate and increase the knowledge and understanding of the vital role of interscholastic athletics in the educational system, this scholarship program will foster and recognize the partnership between the NIAAA and secondary education. The scholarships will recognize the distinguished scholastic, leadership and sportsmanship attributes of high school student-athletes, and the importance of high school athletics in each student’s life. MCHS is in the Northeast Region.

Essays must describe an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official who served during or after 1917, the year John F. Kennedy was born. The official may have addressed an issue at the local, state, or national level. See Contest Topic and Information and Helpful Tips for Writing Your Essay for more information. Essays can be no more than 1,000 words but must be a minimum of 700 words. Citations and bibliography are not included in the word count.

The Mensa Foundation Scholarship Program awards more than $150,000 in assistance every year to college-bound students around the globe. Scholarships are awarded based solely on 550-word essays expressing applicants’ academic and professional goals and how their personal experiences will help them to accomplish those goals. The U.S. scholarship program relies on approximately 450 dedicated volunteers around the country, with support from the Foundation’s office staff. U.S. applicants need not be Mensa members. However, college-bound Mensa members and their dependents may also be eligible for one of several $2,500 scholarships awarded each year through the Mensa Member Scholarship Program.

Each year, the U.S. Junior Chamber International (JCI) Senate Foundation grants $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan to continue their education at accredited post-secondary colleges, universities or vocational schools. The number of grants awarded annually is at the discretion of the Foundation and must be used for educational expenses in the first year of full-time study. Checks awarded will be made out in the name of the recipient and the educational institution of the recipient’s choice.

Criteria: Applicant must be directly affected by childhood cancer (including individuals who currently have or have had cancer before age 18 or a sibling of that individual), must be within Children's Cancer Connection's service area (living, treated or diagnosed in the state of Iowa), and must attend or plan to attend an accredited two or four year institution.

The selection of scholarship recipients is based on: Academic Achievement: demonstrated by high school grade point average information (GPA) of at least 3.0. Leadership: based on self-reliance, initiative, problem-solving and creative ability in school and out, as reflected in the applicant’s personal essay. Applicants must intend to pursue a course of study at a qualified post-secondary institution. Applicants must be accepted by the qualified post-secondary institution prior to actually receiving a scholarship. Applicants must commence their postsecondary education or training in the first academic year following their senior year of high school.

Applicants must meet ALL the following criteria: a) Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident of the United States.; b) Must be a high school senior graduating between August 1, 2023 and July 31, 2024.; c) Must have a cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5 on a 4 point scale (high school/home schooled seniors).; d) Must enroll for Fall 2024 as a freshman or 1st year student in part-time or full-time study at a 2-year, 4-year, college, university, trade or vocational school. The school must be an accredited U.S. institution, and listed on the official website for the U.S. Department of Education.; e) Must not be a relative or dependent child of an employee of Talking Rain or any of its retail customers.

Criteria: Applicant must be a resident of Iowa and be admissible to Iowa State University. The applicant must have faced challenges of personal and/or financial hardship and demonstrate this information in a student essay, recommendation, and the FAFSA.

The Alumni of Beta Sigma Psi Lutheran fraternity will be awarding three $2,000 scholarships to Lutheran gentlemen entering Iowa State University in the Fall of 2022. Applicants will be evaluated on their scholastic achievement and active participation in their communities and churches. Applications posted prior to February 5th, 2022 will be eligible for all three scholarships. If you are not selected for the first scholarship, however, and turned in an early application, your application will be reviewed for the second and third scholarships. Applications posted after February 5th but before April 2nd, 2022 will be eligible for two of the three scholarships. Applications posted after April 2nd but before July 2nd, 2022 will be eligible for the last scholarship.

Criteria: High school seniors who plan to enroll in a mechanical or trade course of study at an accredited Iowa Community College. A broad-based criteria is used in the selection process. An applicant's academic record, communication skills, and need for financial assistance are carefully considered along with an evaluation of the applicant by a school official.

The Iowa National Guard Officers Auxiliary has three scholarships available for graduating seniors.  Applicants need to be a dependent of a currently serving or retired Iowa National Guard service member.  Applications are now open for these student scholarships.

Criteria: Entrants must have an account established in his or her own name and be a “member in good standing” at a credit union that is a member or affiliate member of the Iowa Credit Union League. The high school scholarship is open to any high school senior with a projected graduation year of 2023. The post-high school scholarship is open to any adult student who is entering or attending an accredited undergraduate, graduate or vocational program. Only one entry per applicant. More than one entry will result in disqualification.

Students pursuing careers in conservation or agriculture qualify for this scholarship. Preference will be given to students pursuing careers in conservation. The Hixson Program is a $20,000 scholarship named in honor of Iowa native Christina Hixson. One student from each county in the state of Iowa will receive this award each year. The scholarship is for students who qualify for financial aid based on the FAFSA, and who have overcome hardship in their lives.

Utility-Focused Scholarship

Each $1,000 scholarship will be distributed to the educational institution. To apply, candidates must fill out and submit the scholarship application. Applications are due February 23, 2024 to scholarship@iamu.org. A minimum of 4 scholarships will be awarded. April 26, 2024.

 

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must:

Preference will be given to applicants entering a utility-related career with a special preference to applicants entering utility-related trades programs leading to careers in difficult to fill utility careers such as, as an example only, electric line worker, water treatment or distribution operator, or operator qualified natural gas positions.

General Scholarship

Each $500 will be distributed to the educational institution. To apply, candidates must fill out and submit the scholarship application. Applications are due February 23, 2024 to scholarship@iamu.org. A minimum of 4 of scholarships will be awarded. IAMU will announce the award recipients by April 26, 2024.

 

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must: a) Attend college/technical school within the state of Iowa; b) Have a parent/grandparent/legal guardian who is an employee of an IAMU-verified member; c) Have a 3.0 minimum GPA.

Deadline: Priority day March 1, 2024 - need to have an active NIACC application to apply

The NIACC Foundation awards a variety of scholarships each year to new, current and graduating NIACC students. These scholarships, which range from $250 to full tuition, are made available through the generosity of NIACC alumni, board members, businesses, employees, organizations and other friends of the College. Scholarships are votes of confidence in higher education and NIACC is grateful to those who make these yearly awards possible.

After graduating high school, many young adults with Down syndrome are choosing to pursue post-secondary education or vocational training programs. These may include programs at community colleges, four-year universities, local vocational training programs, or any type of enrichment course that will help them prepare for their future.

CRITERIA: Applicant must: a) have Down syndrome and live in the DSA of NCI servicing area; b) be a high school graduating senior or high school graduate; c) have enrolled or intend to enroll in a class or program that will enrich his or her life by helping to develop skills that can lead to employment, independent living, or in some way empower the individual to succeed.

Down Syndrome Association of North Central Iowa’s (DSA of NCI) Scholarship Fund. Enriching the lives of individuals with Down syndrome is part of the mission of our organization. We choose to give back to the communities in our servicing area by providing a scholarship to an individual pursuing education in a special needs field.

CRITERIA: Application must: a) live in the DSA of NCI servicing area; b) be a high school senior or college student pursing education in a field that will benefit the special needs population such as special education, speech, occupational, or physical therapy, etc.; c) minimum GPA of 3.0; d) be enrolled or accepted into an accredited college or university.

Five Star will be awarding $500 scholarships to 2024 High School graduates. To qualify, students must be going to a college/university to study agriculture. The graduates parent(s) must be a Class A Member of Five Star Cooperative.

The Freddy Miranda Access Scholarship is awarded to eight Iowa high school seniors, whose high schools and chosen colleges are members of Iowa ACAC. Freddy Miranda was someone who was giving of his time, cared for others, and had a desire to improve the world. It is our hope to honor Freddy’s memory by choosing scholarship recipients that embody similar qualities and characteristics. 

Students may apply on their own for the scholarship. Although not required, it is highly encouraged that students also include a letter of recommendation from a school counselor, teacher, employer, or advisor. We will not accept letters from immediate family members. The Freddy Miranda Scholarship amount is $1,000 for one year.

Special consideration will be given to students from underrepresented populations, who are first generation, and/or demonstrate financial need. Application will be open from February 1st to March 1st.

North Iowa Community Credit Union (NICCU) is pleased to award a $500 scholarship to a high school senior who will be entering college in 2023 and is a member of North Iowa Community Credit Union. Those eligible for membership must live or work or have a relative who lives or works in Cerro Gordo, Franklin, Worth, Winnebago, Hancock or Wright county. Entrants must have an account established in his or her own name and be a “member in good standing” at North Iowa Community Credit Union.

If you are a graduating high school senior pursuing an agricultural-related major at any two - or four - year college we encourage you to apply for the Viafield Youth Ag Scholarship worth $1,000.  Six of these scholarships will be given away every year.  The following are the guidelines for students who wish to apply for this scholarship.

Student Eligibility: High school senior, graduating in the spring; Must intend to major in agriculture; Legal U.S. citizen or permanent resident; The student or the parent of the student must be a patron member of Viafield (a cooperative); Students of Viafield Team Members who are Class A and Class B coop members in good standing.

The ACACIA Leadership Scholarship is designed to identify and reward outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated their ability to excel in the fields of academics, extra-curricular school activities, and community involvement. The scholarship is available to any male, graduating senior from an accredited high school who attends Iowa State University. The scholarship is awarded by the local Corporate Board of Alumni of Acacia Fraternity. Preference for the awarding of the scholarships is given to students who are members of the fraternity. Demonstrated financial need is not a criteria. This scholarship is NOT transferable to another person or attendance at another university.

FFBC awards annual scholarships to outstanding Iowa high seniors who promote lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) acceptance and educate their schools and/or communities about LGBT issues. Academic excellence, extracurricular activities and community involvement also factor into the awards. Criteria: Applicants must be Iowa residents and plan to pursue post-secondary education. There is no restriction on the type or location of the institution where post-secondary education is obtained. Scholarships are awarded without regard to sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, transgender status, race, religion, marital status or employment status of the prospective recipient.

The ISL Education Lending Scholarship awards 45 deposits of $1,000 into College Savings Iowa accounts for Iowa residents in high school or undergraduate college, or the parents, guardians or others who hold a College Savings Iowa account for high school or undergraduate college student. 

Iowa Golf Association Foundation - Herman sani scholarship

Deadline: March 31, 2024

Any graduating high school senior and resident of the State of Iowa with experience or background in golf is eligible to apply.

Scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, extracurricular activities and leadership qualities, not on golf accomplishments or ability. Scholarships are awarded and recipients are selected solely on the basis of the written application.   The decision of the Herman Sani Selection Committee is final.

Note: As a condition of accepting the scholarship, recipients must attend the Scholarship Awards Banquet on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Echo Valley Country Club in Norwalk.

Must be the natural, adopted, step-child or full dependent of a worker injured or killed in a work-related accident during the course and scope of employment with a Minnesota-, Wisconsin-, or Iowa-based employer and entitled to receive benefits under the Minnesota Workers' Compensation Act, Worker's Compensation Act of Wisconsin or Iowa's workers' compensation law. Must be a Minnesota, Wisconsin or Iowa resident between the ages of 16 and 25 at the time of the application.

The Karon Brown Award was established in 2021 as a tribute to Karon Brown who served the IGHSAU in a variety of roles for 43 years. The recipient of this award is recognized for excellence in the classroom, in athletics and must plan on a future in a sports-related field. Her profile should reflect loyalty, perseverance, character, and passion for continuing a career serving female athletes. Those same qualities personified Karon Brown and her work for the IGHSAU.
