REMINDER OF 

IMPORTANT CHANGES IN

THE MERIT AWARD PROCESS

The Spotlight Circle strives to make our Merit Awards as fair and open-minded of a process as possible.

In order to make this recognition available to more individuals going forward, starting in the Spring of 2020, students will be eligible to receive no more than One Merit Award per Academic Year

Also, we have added a line to the application so we can take into account how volunteer efforts at the Theatre could be impacted by a student's need to work at outside jobs.

FALL 2025 MERIT AWARDS

The MiraCosta Theatre Spotlight Circle presents Merit Awards at the end of each Fall and Spring semester to selected students who are actively involved with the MiraCosta College Theatre Program.

These Merit Awards are based upon student experience, contributions to the Theatre Program, and a serious commitment to the performing arts, as judged by the Spotlight Circle Board. They are NOT based upon or influenced by financial need.

Selected students will receive monetary awards that range from $200 to $500.

Incomplete or Late Applications

WILL NOT be accepted for any reason

(We strongly recommend that you send your application in at least a day before the deadline in order to be sure that your submission is not disqualified due to delays in internet transmissions, as has happened in the past.)

Only students who have already completed at least one full semester at MiraCosta are eligible to apply for these awards.

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS AWARD, YOU MUST SUBMIT:

                   1) An application in the form of a Microsoft Word document attached to an email; and

             2) A JPEG portrait of yourself (minimum 200 dpi) for use in a slide show display of Merit Award winners, should you be selected.
