This is a script for Daz Studio 1, 2, 3&4 and 4.5 or greater
it lets you rotate something ( usually an arm ) around an arbitrary axis in space
July 25 2014 12:09 am Released
Jul 26, 2014, 5:08 am Added the "keep target orientation" feature
The zip package is found at the bottom of this page
unzip it in your daz content folder, typically
C:\Program Files\DAZ\Studio\content\
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\DAZ\Studio\content\
once installed, it will appear in your content library, under Studio / Scripts / mcasual
or
C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\
once installed, it will appear in your content library, under My DAZ 3D Library / Scripts / mcasual
Select a target node, it can be any node in the scene, example a screw
Select a turning node, usually a figure's shoulder or collar bone
specify a rotation angle
specify which animation frames to process
click the 'doit' button
and it's done
the turning node ( arm ) rotated around the axis going through the shoulder joint and the screw
There is also an option named "maintain target orientation"
this is useful for a case like this
you want to rotate a leg around the thigh-to-foot axis,
but you want to foot to counteract the leg movement
this way the foot stays perfectly still
You should turn off this option if the 'target' node is not affected by the 'turning node' rotation,
since it will create a useless keyframe of the target node.
