mcjPlanarUV
══════════════════
Introduction
══════════════════
The script exports to disk a copy of the selected object with the new UV map
the UV map is "projected " from the current camera
( this projection is isometric, if you want to have a good idea of what the UV map will look like
set your camera's "perspective" option to Off and set the viewing mode to wireframe

Using mcjPlanarUV to create complex and swell Displacement maps
If you project your object(s) UV Map from the point of view of a side camera
then apply a gray ramp image to your object(s)
and render your object from the POV of a front or top camera
you obtain a Displacement map !
example: i re-UV mapped Aiko3 as seen from a right-side camera and applied this texture
i made the ambient color White with a strength of 100%
i made the diffuse color black, strength 100%
it looks like this
but the front view is this
like any good displacement map, white is elevated and black is depressed
and when we apply this image as the displacement map, set the displacement strength to 100%, set the elevation for the white level to 100 cm
we obtain a bas-relief !
here are more Bas-Relief quickly cooked up using mcjPlanarUV
you could download and use modify this texture
it contains spheres cones and a torus
Tip for better displacement maps
