Your topic is: ________________________________________________
To help your classmates and yourself explore options for the future, you will be preparing a presentation about a job, company, career, college, or branch of the military to share with the class.
Objective: to sell your topic. For example, if you choose the University of Texas – your goal is to convince people to go to college there.
Due: Must be ready to present on Tuesday, April 10, 2011
If you choose a college, you must cover:
Admission requirements
Possible majors
Costs
Location of college
Housing
Financial aid
Activities
Sports
Traditions (in any order)
If you choose a job, career, or branch of the military, you must cover:
Training, education, or certification requirements
Skills that you need to be successful
What people with this occupation do (be very descriptive/detailed)
Why this occupation is important
What makes it a good field to work in
Companies that you can work for
What is the average starting pay? What is the most you can expect to earn in this field?
Helpful hints:
Remember when giving a presentation, less is better on the screen. Also, a maximum of six lines of text per page is best. It is better not to type in complete sentences, but to put only the important information (using bullets) on the screen. Also, use light color text on a dark background or dark text on a light background (be careful of putting text on top of a picture – the text may blend in and be hard to read). Do not use pictures as backgrounds unless it is very easy to read the text you put on top of them.
