Marcuse Society Postdoctoral Fellowships are awarded occasionally to selected postdoctoral scholars who who have recently earned the terminal degree and who are pursing significant research projects.
The International Herbert Marcuse Society launched a postdoctoral fellowship initiative in 2021, in support of scholars undertaking special projects that advance our educational mission.
Awarded occasionally, the Marcuse Society Postdoctoral Fellowships provide support for undertaking publishing and translation projects, archival initiatives, the coordination of scholarly workshops, and a wide variety of other endeavors.
In solidarity with new generations of creative and critical thinkers, the Marcuse Society provides these stipends to postdocs of exceptional promise whose research and writing engages with Critical Theory and the broader Marxist tradition as well as with other radical theories and liberatory praxis—building on Marcuse’s legacy to understand and transform the world.
Douglas Kellner, Emeritus Professor, University of California, Los Angeles—UCLA (USA), serves as the Chair of the Marcuse Society’s Committee on Fellowships [douglaskellner2020s@gmail.com] [kellner@ucla.edu], and Andrew T. Lamas, Faculty, University of Pennsylvania (USA), serves as the Committee's Co-Chair [atlamas@gmail.com]. The Committee on Fellowships also includes the Society's officers.
