Living Holistically

'Jesus was a black from Ethiopia', hear and consider this.

Can anyone not born on Christmas day, change this world, considering that Jesus Christ, He who, followers believe 'was, and is, and is to be,' was born on this day.

Conrad Hilton comes to mind.

Like Jesus before him, Conrad, or Hilton if you prefer, has a footprint that whispers love, long after physical humanity dispensed away with him. And to the beneficiaries of his handiwork the whispers scream. In 2007 Hotel magnate Barron Hilton [Conrad's son], grandfather of heiress Paris Hilton, bequeathed 97% of his estimated $2.3-billion net worth to his father's charity foundation. The largest in the foundation's history and which brought its value to about $4.5 billion. "Working to alleviate human suffering around the globe, regardless of race, religion or geography, is the mandate of the foundation set by my grandfather . . . and now reinforced by my father," Hilton's son Steven M. Hilton, president and chief executive of the organization, said then, in a prepared statement.

He was referring to Conrad [grandfather] and later Barron, [his dad].

Paris, though not born on a Christmas day like Conrad, can hug the day. Can't she?

Like Barron, Conrad's court tails have proved cosy, haven't they?

Not everyone has such cosiness.

The rumour: that Jesus was actually a miserable peasant born and bred in a little village in Ethiopia, along the Horn of Africa is not far fetched. It shows what anyone can.

White Christmas, the rumour adds, is a marketer's 'stuff,' know what we talking about?

If you don't believe let's try: "Snow, Ice and Christmas often go together…although there is no snow or ice in the Christmas story of Bible.

Snow does fall in Israel, however . Bethlehem and Jerusalem are on a range of hills … The hills often have a very cold weather from November to April and snow can often fall.

So although the Bible story may not have the snow in it, Jesus may well have seen some snow in 'his' life."(!)

Anyway, this story is of memories about Christmas.

Rumours can't confirm that Jesus is a descendant of a peasant from Ethiopia.

He, also, mustn't have been a Jew. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been as humiliated.

But still, can't we look forward to a summer Christmas sometime. Even if not next year.

Grandma couldn't appreciate. Until I told her the story of love at the Cross.

"The cross," she kept repeating.

"To the forces of doom," I continued, "life's too precious for side shows, love is forever."

Grandma smile was transfixed.

She had been gone for sometime. I hugged her daughter and wept. Mum was al right. The story of the Cross had impressed grandma.

She had been a first generation convert from Africa. Her legacy continues.

It a memory that lives on, even in Africa.
