The median of a set of numbers is the actual middle occurring number. To calculate the median of a set of numbers, you? write down the numbers is order form smallest to largest; if there is an odd number of numbers, then the middle number is the median, but if there is an even number of numbers, then you need two in the middle and take their mean.

Median can be seen as the central tendency measurement. Because whiskers tell us essentially the spread of all of the data, in the boxplot, the lowest and the highest to data point of an observation telling the range of this spread. 

The median is actually closer to the lower end (Min) [it is closer to the end of the whisker - left side] or the higher end (Max) [it is closer to the end of the whisker-right side] of the data.
