Reflection
As library staffers, one of the most common requests we will receive from patrons will be to help to find books, which in their minds is the main resource provided by libraries. Digital libraries provide important information and background on subject areas, along with digital sources to supplement people’s research. It's important we understand and are familiar with them so we can recommend them to patrons and assist them in utilizing them. For example, let's say someone was writing a paper on the early days of the California Film Industry. I would direct them to several links in the following collections, which is a valuable resource most people don't think of libraries providing?
I think my goal would be to familiarize myself more with these resources. That way I can understand who would potentially benefit from these collections. While being able to provide and speak to them when people inquire about them.
California Film Production
California has been at the forefront of movie production for decades. The golden state was ranked #1 for the most film productions by FilmLA in 2015. Hollywood, in particular, has been a foundation for movies from talkie pics to modern blockbusters. I researched the history of making movies in the golden state. I believe this research would be useful to people interested in California history and film enthusiasts.
