Longhorsley Local History Society Village Trail

Longhorsley was an ancient linear village with its principal road lying east-west.

The houses and other properties formed the shape of a rectangle with an open central space where, for example, in times of trouble all live-stock could be brought for their protection.

This easy walk, just over ¾ mile long, roughly follows the outline of this rectangle, starting at the Shoulder of Mutton.

The trail identifies some of the many historical buildings and areas of interest in this Northumbrian village of Longhorsley.

This Village Trail has been designed and published by the Longhorsley Local History Society

The Village Trail is available as a leaflet in The Shoulder of Mutton and Morpeth Tourist Information Centre.

Printing of the leaflet has been funded by Longhorsley Parish Council.

There is also a "Walking in Emily's Footsteps" guided walk around Morpeth.
