Longhorsley Moor Trail
This is a waymarked circular trail within the area of Longhorsley Moor that is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
The trail hopes to encourage the public to appreciate and enjoy not only its natural history and the wonderful views of the Northumberland landscape, but also the local history - the surprising uses of the Moor area during past generations.
The trail is a rough, uneven pathway, often soft in places, so care is needed for the walk.
From the A697 the route is approximately 1¼ miles long.
However, if approaching from Beacon Hill it becomes a longer walk of about 2½ miles across the whole Moor.
Longhorsley Parish Council is the guardian of the SSSI on behalf of Natural England.
The Parish Council receives grants from Natural England to safeguard and promote the Moor.
