Though still the number is not large, commuting by bike has become popular among city dwellers in Japan.
And the popularity of bike commuting in some countries like Netherlands and Germany is quite enviable to many cyclists around the world.
The cyclist friendly infrastructure is there.
I love bicycle not just because it is an environmentally friendly way of transportation, but also I like the mechanics that efficiently converts the pedaling motion of a biker into the driving force of a wheel.
I had been wanting a bike for quite some time and waiting for an opportunity to obtain one.
Then came teleworking necessitated by the covid-19 pandemic.
I used to spend about 2 and a half hours just for commuting by train every day.
I therefore have been relieved of the commuting burden.
But without it, I would have to find some other way to burn excess calories, because teleworking requires me to stay home all day long.
I took the opportunity to buy myself a light and fast Giant hybrid bike.
Since purchasing my bike, I have been in better shape and lost weight of 8 kilograms.
If weather permits on weekend, I go for a ride for about 60 to 80 kilometers.
While cycling, I am refreshed and energized and feel like I could go on endlessly.
The feeling of becoming a part of nature hooks me on cycling.
What about commuting by bike after teleworking is over?
Unfortunately for me, 30 kilometer cycling on busy urban roads is not a good commuting option.
I will take the trains.

How fast do you go?
