Flood Hub Meeting 16 Nov 2020

NOTES FROM FLOOD HUB 1ST MEETING MONDAY 16TH NOV 2020

    • No one attending the meeting had applied for the Flood Resilience Grant

    • Jarvis offer of funding had not been taken up by attendees

Action:

    • Mailshot requesting volunteer help; preparing for/during/after a flood. (RD)

    • Ask Herefordshire Council for the Transcript of the Flood meeting 19th November 2019 & request Agencies to attend next meeting. (RD)

    • Develop An Emergency Flood Plan:

    • Derys & Sarah – speaking to The Swan to confirm they are happy to provide parking & future involvement with the hub.

    • Charles & Catherine – collating an Emergency “Real Time” Flood Water timetable – for inclusion in the Emergency Flood Plan

    • Jarvis Trust – to be approached to provide emergency funding for overnight stays? Make a request for the setting up of an Emergency Flood Relief Fund for SoW, Letton & Bredwardine residents? (RD).

    • Letton Website - Derys will forward Emergency Flood Plan when available to website administrator.

Wants:

    • Practical support:- before, during and after a flood

    • Need an Emergency Flood Plan

    • Move the BT box above flood water level / Sand Bags

    • Traffic A438 to be stopped from driving through flooded roads

    • Emergency accommodation – who’s responsible Local Authority?

    • Residents want to speak with Agencies: Environment, Local Authority

    • Publish / provide Emergency Flood Plan to all residents – info including Links, Flood water timings, practical info.

    • Strategic – National Flood Management systems to be implemented

Important to note:

People who have been flooded have lost their home.

    • Need emergency overnight accommodation.

    • Traumatised – support may be needed.

    • In Shock & Emotional

    • Filthy (Mud, Oil, etc)

    • Need clean clothes

    • Have pets

    • Staunton on Wye – covers part of the flooded area. SoW Parish Council should take responsibility for their Residents
