Now, it is extremely common for those in the medical community to be very conservative when it comes to recommending forms of treatment for illnesses, which is fair enough when you’re talking about a treatment that is new, expensive, or is untested and so we don’t know what side-effects it might have. Similarly if the difference between a dose doing you good and doing you harm is small. But none of these is the case for Vitamin D. It has been around in our body as long as there has been daylight, it is extremely cheap – sunlight is generally free, and you can pick up even 10000IU capsules for only around 10c each (so 3-5c/day if you take one of these every 2-3 days), plus we know it is vital for immune system function in general and for warding off the effects of many illnesses.
