Today we will:
Watch a movie on digestion
Take a timed math facts test (Set the timer for 1 min and work until it rings. You should be able to do 36 problems with zero mistakes in one minute to move up to the next test)
Play a math facts game (this should be the same set of facts you are testing on tomorrow)
Write a fairytale
Learn how textiles are decorated and about how fabric gets colored--and dye some hankies yourself
Learn about how families change
Learn that "not" is never part of a verb phrase
Make a bar graph and a pictograph (do both activities; click on "Find out")
Learn how to use the oven to bake (Adult: the online lesson doesn't cover preheating the oven; you might need to cover this yourself while you are cooking together)
Make caramel French toast (scroll down for recipe)
You will need:
Printer and paper
Pen or pencil
1 c brown sugar
2 tbsp corn syrup
1/2 c butter
6 eggs
12 slices of bread
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 c milk
1/2 tsp salt
Packets of unsweetened Kool-aid ™ in dark colors
Vinegar
Small bowls
Warm water
Measuring cup
Rubber bands or string
12-inch square pieces of white cotton fabric
Stir sticks/spoons
String or wire, and clothes pins or paper clips (to hang your masterpiece up to dry).
Tray or pie pan (as a "splash" collector)
Gloves (optional)
