About Me

Laura Bravo-Melguizo

I was born and raised in Madrid, Spain, but with an English touch. I have been living in Brookline, MA for the past 18 years. Yes, it looks like I am here to stay... for a while, at least.

I hold a B.S. in Communication Science at Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a M.A.Ed. with a focus on Applied Linguistics at Universidad Antonio Nebrija, also in Madrid.

For many years I worked as a journalist in Communication Agencies, TV and National Public Radio in Spain, chasing down elusive politicians, asking the right questions at press conferences and reporting the news. When I moved to the United States in 2001, tired of politicians and their games, I switched my career to education, hoping to continue asking the right questions, and perhaps, getting some answers.

I currently work at The Winsor School in Boston, where as well as teaching Spanish Language and Hispanic/LatinX Literature and Cultures, I also teach Flamenco. My daughters and my partner are my biggest supporters, after myself, of course... and a good glass of red wine in the evenings.

Cheers!

Laura
