We were not to be disappointed me and my friend caught every species with Carp to double figures the Rudd were also very stunning in colour and great condition we were even catching them on quit large pieces of meat meant for the Carp all in all a fantastic days fishing. Hi Derek

It was good to see you once again and just to let you know we had a very successful day on Friday. Roger topped the bill with 6 common carp, 4 tench and several hybrids and roach. Russ had a carp of 6lb 8ozs, Reg had also had a common of 8lb whilst I had several hybrids with one weighing 3lb 2ozs plus my best tench was 4lb.

Hope you enjoyed your trip back to the UK and everything went well.

Hopefully will see you again next year and many thanks for making us so welcome.

Best wishes and tight lines

Mary and Reg

Lakelands in my view is an ideal and necessary set up and sure many people do not like all the rules but it is important to understand that the specimen lake is not large enough to be throwing two or three once leads and pva bags. Anyone who has fished it and has seen Derek's setup surely must understand that the specimen lake is ideal for float fishing for big carp , anyone know of a certain Mr Chris Yates and his fishing exploits on Redmire pool , he has landed many a fine double figure carp using float tactics using a mere piece of peacock quill.

I have fished it myself knocking on seven or eight years now and had carp to seventeen and half pounds from there all caught on a beefed up float rod and pole float.

Large double figure carp are expensive to buy and to replace , remember not so long back that Benson , England's biggest carp died due to poor angling methods and to replace such a fish will cost in the region of 20,000 English pounds so effective management is vital on such carp lakes.

To catch a large carp on float methods is highly enjoyable and Derek is providing us with an opportunity to experience carp fishing the way we all started when we were young , give it a go lads the rewards are obvious
