Garbage Pick Up

Garbage

Since prior to 2004, it has been Board policy that all homeowners use the same waste pickup service.  To show support for a locally owned company, the board designated WastePath Services to be the waste disposal company for Lake Forest.

We ask everyone to use the same company so that trash cans are on the curb only one day of the week. Other service companies have different pickup days which creates traffic congestion.

WastePath Serivces has specific guidelines for waste disposal, which can be viewed by clicking here.  Please attach the lid to the container to keep container lids and its contents from blowing around.

WastePath Services will pick up additional bags, but you need to give them advance notice. There may be a nominal charge for pickup of extra bags. They can also work with residents to pick up large items that would not normally be picked up on trash day: appliances, rolled and tied carpet, etc.  BE SURE TO WORK DIRECTLY WITH WASTEPATH FOR THESE ITEMS.

WastePath has provided leaf/yard waste pickup twice per year for the past couple of years. Currently, they do accept yard waste from residents, allowing them a few bags per week in addition to their regular trash. Generally, they pick up yard waste one Friday in late March or early April and again in October or November. They will notify the board, who will post it on the website and send out an email.

During the winter months, residents can tune in to "Snowman 6" for notice of cancellation of service due to inclement weather. Residents can also contact WastePath and request be to added to their notification list.  .

Leaves

At this time, homeowners are responsible for removal of their leaves. DO NOT blow them down to the curb and leave them there.  Also, DO NOT dump leaves or any other debris onto vacant lots or common areas.

The County has been contacting owners of vacant lots about keeping those lots cleaned off and they will enforce the County code. If you dump your leaves and debris on someone else's vacant lot, that person will have to pay to have it cleaned up.
