Boy Scouts of America American Flag Service

Boy Scout Troop 1 has a flag service that includes installation of a 3' x 5' flag on a 10-foot pole (included with the service) that is flown on President's Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, 9/11 and Veteran's Day. The flag is set up around sunrise and retired around sunset on each of these days. In 2012, the board voted to purchase three American flags from Boy Scouts Troop 1. A fourth flag was purchased in 2013.

Residents may also choose to have this service.

Residents who subscribe to the service will be given a PVC receptacle in the ground approximately 3-4 feet from the road. These are usually invisible in the grass and at ground level and will not interfere with mowing. Thescouts may place a small mark on the curb or edge of the road to help locate the flag receptacle. Flags will be flown and taken down by the scouts.
