MEDI-Taping is a technique using an elastic tape. The tape comes in different colors that are used depending on the patient's need. The fabric and adhesive are made from cotton and other all natural materials. The tape can be 'stretched' in order to better support a given joint or muscle. Through the stretch, the underlying areas are relieved of tension, circulation is improved, and as a result injuries are healing faster. While it is applied to the skin, the tape gently massages the affected area as the body is moving. As the tape is applied, an improvement in motor function and pain relief should be felt immediately.
Why should/would I get a MEDI-Tape?
What can be treated with MEDI-Taping?
Almost every area of the body with healthy skin can be treated: neck, shoulder, wrist, knee, ankle, toes, upper back, back, lower back, pelvis, hip, any kind of bruises, lymph system, etc.
What does it look like?
What is the effect?
Reduced pain without medication/pain killers, faster healing process, constant massage of the affected area.
How long is it applied?
It depends on the need and care of the patient. It can be applied from some hours ( e.g. for a sport activity or unusually heavy work) up to 2 weeks. Skin must be clean, dry and oil/ lotion free.
How do I take care of my tape?
Wash/rinse once a day with natural soap and clean water. Then carefully dry, either with a towel or a hairdryer. It is possible that the skin under the tape is starting to itch a little. This is natural and caused by sweat, old skin cells, etc. Take a shower head and hold it directly on the tape to thoroughly rinse it. Corners and tape ends can become loose after a few days. Carefully cut off loose tape with scissors, taking great care not to cut/lacerate the skin underneath. Prevent lotion or any other oily substance to touch the tape as it will dissolve the adhesive.
When and how can I take it off?
Kristalli crafts the application and stretch of the tape to your specific needs. As a result you should not feel the tape as it naturally supports your body in the healing process. If you start to 'feel' the tape, if it is pulling or if it creates any kind of discomfort (other than itching, see above), it is time for the tape to come off. It's easiest to apply some conditioner or oil (e.g. massage oil, olive oil, etc.) to the tape and let it soak in for a few minutes. Then slowly pull off the tape, taking great care not to injure your skin. Add more lotion/oil and allow more time to soak in if it is hard to take off the tape. If in doubt, please contact me.
What are the functions of the colors?
Colors help filter the quality of the light waves from red ( reflecting heat = e.g. chronical pain) - orange- brown - yellow - green - to blue ( transfer the heat = e.g. bruise / acute pain).
Can MEDI-Taping be combined with other techniques?
Great results can be achieved in combination with Acupoint Massage. But combinations with oily massages are not possible as the skin needs to be oil free before applying MEDI-Tape.
How often can I use the MEDI-Tape?
There is no limit in the duration of the MEDI-Tape application. New tape will need to be applied every week on average (2 weeks max). With every new application, Kristalli can alter tape color, stretch and shape of the tape in order to best support the healing process. It is not possible to re-use tape as the adhesive and the elasticity will wear over time.
Where does MEDI-Tape come from?
MEDI-Tape was developed in Germany. It is currently only available in Germany and Kristalli is sourcing her supplies directly from the manufacturer. More information: http://www.medi-taping.com/ (in German)
Every single MEDI-Tape is individually cut. Kristalli does not use any pre-cut tapes as every individual person has a different shape and anatomic length.
