I was born in the beautiful island of Sri Lanka and had both my school and undergraduate education there. I went to the famous High School Ananda College (Maroon and Gold forever) and did my undergraduate studies at the prestigious University of Colombo, boasting Sri Lanka's oldest, most prestigious and largest school of science. I did my Masters and PhD at Purdue University US and then went back to work at University of Colombo for 13 years. In 2007 I joined University of Wisconsin-Whitewater as a visiting professor and in 2008 joined the University of Wisconsin Colleges as an Assistant Professor. I am currently a Professor of Mathematics at University of Wisconsin-Platteville. I was Vice-Chair of the math department of the UW-Colleges till August 2017 and I am currently chair of the Mathematical Association of America's WI section.
I am married to Milanki for 19 amazing years and am the father of two daughters. Imalsha and Sethmi. I did one thing right through my entire personal life. I stuck to the basic values of family, friends and compassion. In my professional life, I simply taught in college classrooms in the USA and Sri Lanka . But I did it, as if I have at least an outside chance, of changing the futures of each and every student in my classroom, by allowing them to discover their true potential. They remain the main (and perhaps the only ) macro justification for my existence.
