I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Conflict Resolution, Human Security, and Global Governance at UMASS Boston, and formerly the Program Director for our Graduate Programs in Conflict Resolution .

I completed my doctoral studies at Indiana University, where I pursued a joint PhD in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies and in Inquiry Methodology.  Prior to beginning my doctoral studies, I earned a MA with a focus on Conflict Resolution from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and a BA in Middle Eastern Studies from Columbia University.

In my academic and professional work I focus on issues at the intersection of dialogue, peace-building, social activism, and education.  I conduct basic and applied research to help understand the impact of grassroots peace-building interventions and the way these interventions fit into societal level peace-building efforts.  I also explore and write about issues related to how we conduct research about peace-building and social justice work and how we can do so in more inclusive ways.
