2023 In-Service

We are excited to have an on-site option again this year! Those of us that use distance learning on a regular basis know how important in-person time can be! This year's distance learning in-service will be focused on tools and strategies for your classrooms. We hope that you are able to attend either in-person or we will also have a Zoom option.

Location: ESSDACK Service Center, 1500 E 11th Ave #200, Hutchinson, KS 67501

Cost: Free to KAIDE Member Networks & East Central BOCES district distance learning teachers/facilitators. 

 $25 fee to a non-network teacher. If you are unsure of your affiliation, select "unsure" on the registration and we will contact you.

Time: 9am-4pm CST, 8am-3pm EST

Session: How Learning Arabic Made Me a Better Video Teacher 

Presenter: Jennifer Ort

Description: I received an educator award to attend the Summer African Language Institute through KU. I thought it would be a nice summer activity to supplement my leisure activities but it ended up being eight INTENSE weeks of video call classes, assignments, and tests that made me a better person and a better teacher.


Session: Best Practices for Teaching Online based on Arizona State University’s Research-Based Approaches 

Presenter: Dan Whisler

Description: Dan will be demonstrating several of the best practices for teaching online while using science/energy content but the research-based best practices being explained will be applicable to all content areas teachers use to deliver distance learning in a quality way.


Session: Strategies & Techniques for Feeling Confident in Front of the Camera 

Presenter: Tara Harper

Description: This session will cover techniques for effective & confident communication through the camera using the technology, camera position and placement, and highlighting aspects of your face to enhance visual cues.
