Practice typing (Grade 2 and up):

Touch Typing Home Practice

Dear Parent,

Your child is learning touch typing at school. Please ask your child to practice at home 15 minutes a day for two weeks on a laptop or PC (NOT iPad). Please check for correct finger alignment, as described in the typing.com lessons (see below). Touch typing is a really useful skill.

Dear Student,

The point of touch typing is to learn how to keep your fingers on the keyboard and “anchor” yourself to the “home row”, so you can type without having to look at the keyboard, just by feeling the keys. You can reach 100 words per minute using the touch typing technique. Without touch typing, you can only reach about 40 words per minute.
