Below are some more shots that came from my Maxxum 7000, the color shots of the stage play were shot on Kodak SuperMax 800 ISO film. I like this film because it's relatively forgiving, I didn't have to do many color corrections beyond whatever the lab did on the prints for the shots of the stage.
Using a fast shutter speed and high speed film let me get a bright shot of a La Serna High School's production of "Kiss Me Kate"
This has been severely reduced in file size, but notice how you can still make out the letters on the sign by the side of the stage. 800 ISO film, again. This was the slowest available that would let me use the camera without a tripod.
Some of the more recent high speed emulsions are quite sharp and very forgiving for shots such as this flower. If I had done this in black and white, I would have used ISO 100 TMax and a tripod, and maybe a handheld flash.
I used photoshop to isolate the flower in the center, and then to age the surrounding photo, the real flowers were not that pale.
This shot of a meerkat is a perfect example as far as timing is concerned. I had a small noisemaker and I was standing on an observation deck above him. Had to be quick to let go of the noisemaker to get my finger on the shutter. Kodak 800 if I recall correctly.
Having a lens that can close focus is great. This picture is after some editing in Google's Picnick software.;
This was shot using my Sony Alpha a230 with the kit 18-55 zoom lens.
