05-27-09 6th day-GunFlint Lodge

Hi Everyone
What actually happened is that I stayed two nights in a Bunkhouse at
the Gunflint Lodge. On Tuesday Night I came in soaking wet and
they were really great to me. They let me use a pair of shoes while
they dried my boots.
On Wednesday, it was a rest day. I washed my clothes at the nearby
Gunflint Pines Resort and Campground. After that, I was ready for
a hike and the Gunflint Outfitters drove me out to the Magnetic
Rock Trailhead. I walked back to the Gunflint Lodge from there
using the Magnetic Rock Trail. It was nice hiking with a light backpack.

Tman made it to the store and know has to head North to the Lodge.
I think there is a hitch in Todd's plan in that he made it to the Gunflint Lodge Outfitters shop, but the Gunflint Lodge is actually farther to the North on around the lake. Todd probably has to hike there to get his package. Greg

Well when he makes it to the lodge it looks nice.
I wounder what was in the package that he mailed himself there?

Okay, I talked to Gene at Gunflint Lodge.
Apparently Todd is staying two nights at the Lodge and Google Maps isn't correct about where exactly the Lodge is relative to the outfitters. I've updated the map.
Gene said Todd picked up his care package last night, and is probably out on a day hike. They will let him know to call his mother.

No cell service up in the BWCA. Todd called collect. Called back later and set up a conference call from our cell so Todd could call his Mom. She had called a little worried about him. Todd was able to leave a message.
Todd sounded a little tired...
I can't imagine doing that many miles that quickly. I'm astounded that Todd has gone so far so fast. Per Todd he got wet and a couple of the days were 'a disaster'. Looking forward to learning about what happened later.
Todd is headed on down the second part of the throughpack after tonight. Maybe the next time we talk to him will be Clearwater Lodge.
