1st Day of Trail Clearing
Getting ready at Rockwood Lodge, Going to the Boat landing,
Canoeing and portaging to our campsite on Duncan Lake.
Setting up camp, and Trail work in the afternoon.
Returning to camp for supper and a relaxing evening

2nd Day of Trail Clearing
Packing up at Duncan Lake, Canoeing to Stairway
Portage, Trail Clearing on the Bluff East of Stairway Falls,
Eating lunch on the bluff, Trail Clearing in the Afternoon.
Finishing the Trail work, Saying goodbye to the Trail
Crew, Hiking East on the Bluff. hiking past the Rose Lake
Campsites, Long Portage and along Rove Lake.
Tom - Has been doing Trail Clearing with the Border Route since
2003 and this year he is the Wilderness Coordinator. Went to
College at the Southwest School of Mines and the University of
Minnesota. He has 3 adult children
Jim - 9th Trail Clearing Trip. Works for Excel Energy as an
Engineer. Married with 2 adult children
The Notch Log
The Notch Log is a familiar Border Route Landmark on
the bluff east of Stairway Falls
Walli - 5th Trail Clearing Trip. Is a Paralegal in the
Twin Cities. Attended the University of Minnesota
with a major in Psychology and minor in Art

Dick - Second time Trail Clearing for the Border Route.
Recently Retired IT Manager for a Major Airline. Has
3 children and 2 grandchildren

Jeff - First time Trail Clearing but is Cross Cut Saw
Certified. Has been to the Boundary Waters several times.
Has two children with his lovely wife.
Martin - Second time on a Trail Clearing Trip. From Southern
California, but is in the Twin Cities implementing a Computer
System for a Hospital. Has 3 children, all in College
Paul - Second Border Route Trail Clearing Trip. He is
a Financial Advisor in the Twin Cities. Went to St Olaf's
College. He has a lovely wife and 2 children
Illona - First Border Route Trail Clearing Trip. She is a
Silversmith and makes jewelry in the Twin Cities. She
went to the Minneapolis College of Art Design. She is married
and has a daughter.
Todd - First time on a Border Route Trail Clearing Trip.
Avid Backpacker, hiker and bicyclist. Attended UW-Milwaukee
and recently graduated from Madison Area Technical College.
Has 2 adult children.
