Parents Responsibilities

We feel that good communication between the parent and ourselves can play an important part in your child's care. Therefore, we maintain an open door policy for parents to share problems, concerns, questions and successes. Please explain clearly and carefully your wishes and expectations about how your child will be cared for. Also, please provide updates on issues and progress that your child is making.

Conferences will be scheduled once a year with parents. This allows for improved communication and an additional opportunity for you to participate in your child's daycare program. These will accommodate both schedules and will be on a one-on-one basis.

We will send home newsletters, letters, documents and child-care information periodically. Please read these documents or you may miss out on very important information, such as closures. Please also check your child's cubby daily.

We are professional child care providers, not a "babysitters". Please respect us and realize that caring for children is an occupation and that we are not only workers, but also working parents.

We ask that every parent is honest, which includes being honest about how you believe the arrangement is working. Please show trust by asking questions rather than "jumping to conclusions" when apparent problems develop. We expect ourselves and the parent to treat each other with respect and to share appreciation for one another. Following are some additional items that I think is fair to expect from you.

1. Please inform us about any special concerns or needs of your child.

2. Each child must come dressed and groomed for the day.

3. Each child must have a change of clothes.

4. Do not allow your child to bring toys, gum or candy from home.

5. When your child will not be attending as scheduled, we require notification.

6. All required forms must be completed and returned before your child attends.

7. All required forms must be updated yearly or as needed.

8. Medical authorization forms must be completed before medication can be administered.

9. If someone different is picking up your child, please let me know.

We also ask that parents bring at least 3-4 photos from home of your child's family. Feel free to bring up to 10 pictures and include pets if you'd like. Copies will be made and originals WILL be returned to you. Each child will have a collage of "home" placed next to their nap spot and also in the daycare area. This is not required, but strongly encouraged as children are comforted by the reminder of their family at all times and enjoy looking at these pictures.

All the above are discussed more in-depth under the Policies Section
