Future Experiment

Changes that could be made for future experiments:

If I were to redo this experiment one change I would like to make would be to use a different type of fruit, like strawberries or oranges. This would add some variety to experiment. I would also like to have done more trials of the experiment (I did two trials) to get a better look at the DNA. I would also do these trials in smaller portions because the coffee filter kept on falling into the cup. Thicker coffee filters or bigger cups could have fixed the problem of the coffee filter falling in.

Questions I have after the experiment:

• Can the same process used to see fruit DNA be used to see human DNA?

• How come the DNA clusters were not the color of the banana? (The clusters were more of a white color then a soft yellow)

• If I were to put the clusters under a microscope could I see the double helix structure of DNA?

• If the EDTA found in shampoo can break down barriers that surround DNA, what does it do hair cells?

• Would anything happen if I were to freeze the clusters?
