* There are two processes when adding addendums to MEDITECH. The first process, retrospective addendums, is when you receive an MAS email describing a recent downcode. The second process, prospective addendums, is when you need to add a critical care addendum to MEDITECH during the patient encounter. You can also use this process to leave notes for psych patients and for patient phone calls. This new system will entirely replace the old system. We will 'go-live' shortly.
We will review the retrospective addendum first.
1. Click on 'Patient Routines'. It is usually below the 'Patient Tracker'
2. Next, type in your patient's name. Then, press enter.
3. Click on 'New' to start a new note.
4. CLICK ON F4 then F9 to pull up the list of templates. Select the appropriate template using it's corresponding number. The templates all start with the letter A. preceding each template so they will appear at the top of the list for easy browsing.
5. The template will appear. Important note: you will need to click enter through the entire text before you can edit it. This satisfies a regulatory requirement that proves you actually acknowledged the text and did not simply submit without reading it. Edit the document as necessary and then submit.
FOR PROSPECTIVE ADDENDUMS, enter through the regular 'Patient Tracker', not through 'Patient Routines'. Click on 'Pt Notes' (see below). You will be taken to the above screens that will allow you to pick a template. The process is then the same as above.
