Schedules & Events

NO IN-PERSON EVENTS DURING THE PANDEMIC

Main Street Museum is opened by appointment from mid-May through October, with business meetings in spring and fall. We open during Cabot's July Fourth Parade. Programs are scheduled in warm weather; we lack central heating. We have many artifacts from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries; they typify life in a small Vermont farming town.

We have  several  albums of photographs and historic documents, including over 1,600 items from the Thomas Osgood, Esq. collection. Thomas Osgood was an early town clerk in Cabot. He served from 1796 to 1832, except for 1822, when Joseph Fisher held the office. When Osgood was unable to serve due to advanced age, his son, Thomas, Jr., was elected and held the office for the next 15 years, resigning just before his death in 1858.

To visit either Main Street Museum or the restored West Hill School, e-mail  us before your visit at cabothistorical@gmail.com. If you want to see specific items, for more information, or to arrange a tour, let us know in advance. We will gladly arrange a visit to either or both museums. We also try to answer genealogical questions about early Cabot families by e-mail.

We want to hear from anyone with a historical program of interest to our public and members.  If you have an idea for such a talk, please contact us by e-mail.
