Luke Fisher, award-winning farmer, husband and father, had a hillside farm west of Cabot village. It belonged to his grandfather, Joseph Fisher, since 1882. Local historian, Barbara Carpenter, wrote about the Fisher Farm in 2017. Her report said: " . . . it was Luke who played a heroic part in the introduction of testing for bovine tuberculosis in Vermont and, subsequently, the nearly complete eradication of this disease in the cattle of this State." 1876 essay - winter cattle feed. GENEALOGY OF THE FISHER FAMILY IN CABOT, VERMONT
Joseph, oldest child of Joseph and Elizabeth (Farrington) Fisher, was born July 22, 1766. He married, at Claremont, New Hampshire, May 20, 1794, Sarah, daughter of William and Hepsibath Osgood. She was born at Claremont, Feb. 17, 1769, and died at Cabot, July 3, 1839. They went directly to Cabot, Vt., to start pioneer life in the wilderness. Joseph Fisher died at Cabot, Sept. 1, 1853. Deacon Marcus O., son of Joseph and Sarah (Osgood) Fisher, was b. in Cabot, Vt., Nov. 24, 1796, and d. there, April 9, 1865. He m. at Chester, N. H., June 13, 1820, Fannie Hall, who was b. in Chester, April 9, 1796, and d. in Cabot, Sept. 14, 1870. Their children were:

Caleb, third child of Joseph and Sarah (Osgood) Fisher, was b. in Cabot, Vt., May 17, 1800, and d. Feb. 2, 1886. He m. in Cabot, Nov. 27, 1827, Laura A. Stone, who was b. Sept. 5, 1802, and d. May 31, 1870. He always lived in Cabot. In the military company of Cabot, organized Aug. 26, 1819, he was elected third sergeant; when it became an artillery company, in July, 1826, he became second lieutenant, and in 1828 was elected its captain. He was selectman eleven years, 1832, 1841 to 1848, 1854, 1862 and 1863; overseer of the poor, 1841 and 1842. Their children were:

He m. at Cabot, Dec. 18, 1826, Flora Strong, who was b. in Bethlehem, Conn., Jan. 5, 1799 and d. at Chicago, Ill., Oct. 6, 1895. "He put up a tannery at Lower Cabot, on the river opposite the factory (Haines Mills), in 1827, which he ran until 1838, when he moved to Albion, N. Y. During his residence in Cabot, he was a member of the Congregational church; was elected captain of the artillery company in Cabot in 1829, and served until 1832." Their children were:

He was elected a deacon of the Congregational church, in Cabot, in February, 1866; secretary of the Green Mountain Lodge, F. & A. M., at its organization, in 1865; a representative to the state legislature in 1863-64. Their children were:

John M., son of Deacon Marcus O. and Fanny (Hall) Fisher, was b. in Cabot, Vt., Nov. 15, 1833. He is a resident of his native town. At its incorporation, (NB the Village of Cabot) Nov. 19, 1866, he was a member of the board of trustees; was a charter member of the Green Mountain Lodge, F. and A. M., in 1865, and at the first election was made senior warden. Was appointed justice of the peace in 1881; county commissioner, 1875 to 1877. He wrote the history of Cabot, Vt., in Hemenway's History of Washington County, Vt., pp. 74 - 128. He m. 1st, at Cabot, April 9, 1856, Carrie, daughter of John M. and Carrie Lance, who was b. at Cabot, Sept. 1, 1835, and d. Dec. 26, 1869. He m. 2d, July 8, 1871, Roxanna L. Heath, who was b. May 15, 1844. Judge Fisher resided at Lower Cabot. Their children were:

Susan Jane, second child of Milton and Susan (Jones) Fisher, was b. May 26, 1837; m. Jan. 26, 1S64, Charles Edwin Joslyn, who was b. in Morrisville, Vt., April 14, 1837, and d. at Barton Landing, Vt., March 31, 1898. He was a merchant. His widow resided at Barton Landing. In the Civil War, He was captain of Co. A, 6th Vt. Vol. Infantry. He was wounded in the battle of Winchester, Va., Sept. 19, 1864, by a rifle ball entering the right eye and coming out in front of the left ear, leaving the socket of the eye. He wore a glass eye for thirty-three years. Their children were:
